Music has always been an escape for me. It changes my mood, it makes me hope, it makes me cry, it makes me laugh. I grew up with music all around me. I was raised on The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Simon & Garfunkel, Van Morrison, Kenny Loggins, Neil Young, Boston, Tom Petty...my dad would play covers on his acoustic in the living room.
Earlier this year I took a road trip with one of my best friends to Virgina. We each took turns showing each other our favorite songs and talking about why they moved us so much. It was a really touching look into her soul. Being able to share that part of me and see that part of her was so meaningful. We did this back and forth for about 3 songs each and at the end I felt like we knew so much more about each other. It's amazing how telling someones favorite song can be about who they are.
All this to say, I really wanted to share more music with you and I wanted to start by sharing some of the songs I listened to on repeat in 2017.
It includes music from Lovedrug, First Aid Kit, Bowerbirds, Rogue Valley. The cover of "I Will Follow You" by Toulouse makes me weep. Also "Down Towards the Healing" and "Mess is Mine" put into words so much of some of the things and the feelings that Jon and I went through this year. These songs wrap my heart in hugs. I'm totally being mushy right now, but music just does that to me. ;) I can't wait for you to take a listen. PLEASE share with me your favorites from 2017 and any music you are loving!
